The drivetrain is supported by the engine mounts in the front and the gearbox mounts in the rear. When you disconnect the gearbox, the engine needs to be supported so it doesn't tilt down. Some planks of wood do the trick. Here, Mike Costley carefully positions them under the engine oil pan.
